THETORQUEREPORT: 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan revealed
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan doesn’t differ too much from the concept version and also draws many styling cues from the CLA, although its roofline will provide a bit more rear headroom. The A-Class sedan measures just over 179 inches long, which makes it about three inches shorter than the CLA, but its wheelbase is about an inch longer. Mercedes-Benz also announced a few days ago that the 2019 A-Class sedan will be its most aerodynamic model yet.
When the 2019 A-Class sedan goes on sale later this year buyers will be able to choose from either the A220 or A220 4Matic. Both versions are powered by the same 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 188 horsepower and 221 lb-ft. of torque. The four-cylinder is mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
The 2019 A-Class sedan comes standard with the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience multimedia system), Active Brake Assist, and adaptive braking technology with Hill Start Assist. Keyless-Go and Hands-Free Access are options, with the latter giving users the ability to open the trunk by simply doing a kicking motion with a foot under the rear bumper.
Inside there are two options for the two digital screens. The first includes two 7-inch displays, which are standard or buyers can upgrade to two 10.25-inch displays. A head-up display is also optional.
For buyers that want more power, Mercedes-AMG is working on an AMG A35 and A45 versions.
