Brabus already offers tuning options for the new G-Class, and now the German tuner turns its attention to the hotter G63. At the Monaco Yacht Show, the company unveils the new Brabus 700 Widestar that combines an ample boost in power with a wild exterior appearance.

Mercedes-AMG’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo is ubiquitous throughout the brand’s range, and Brabus adapts its tuning from other applications of this engine for the 700 Widestar. While it produces 577 horsepower (430 kilowatts) and 627 pound-feet (850 Newton-meters) in stock trim, the tweaks for this version makes 691 hp (515 kW) and 701 lb-ft (950 Nm) of torque. The upgrade lets the 700 Widestar hit 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in 4.3 seconds, versus the standard model’s sprint to 60 mph (96 kph) in 4.4 seconds. The powerful SUV can also reach 149 mph (240 kph).

Brabus also makes the engine sound meaner with an available exhaust with multiple sound modes, including an ultra-quiet Coming Home setting. Buyers can select whether the pipes have silver or black chrome tips.

On the outside, the Widestar earns its name with wide fenders that add 3.9 inches (10 centimeters) to the SUV’s width. They feature LED illumination for lighting the running boards when an occupant opens the door, and the Brabus logos light up, too. A broad front fascia incorporates lots of dark mesh, and there are similar touches in the rear bumper. The roof gets a spoiler with three openings that give it a complex, eye-catching shape, and there’s a light bar up there, too.

Brabus also fits a set of its 23-inch “Platinum Edition” Monoblock forged wheels. They feature Y-shaped spokes and have a titanium finish.

Inside, the Widestar features a mix of leather an Alcantara upholstery with wood and carbon fiber trim. Aluminum paddles now sit behind the steering wheel for controlling the gearbox.
